UW-Whitewater student/athlete Chris Davis (Sr.-Madison/WI) scored 47 points facing WIAC opponents this week and is the WWS choice for WIAC mens basketball player of the week.On Wednesday (1/11) Davis scored a game-high 23 points and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds in a thrilling 75-70 Warhawk win over visiting UW-Platteville.
Davis converted a three-point play with 51 seconds in the game to give Whitewater a 71-65 lead, then iced a pair of free throws, after the Pioneers closed to 70-72, sealing the UW-W win.
Facing UW-Superior on Saturday (1/14) the UW-Whitewater center had a game-high 24 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals, pacing the Warhawks to their sixth WIAC win this season, a 80-58 win over the Yellowjackets.
Davis, leading the WIAC in scoring (393 points) averaging 24.7 points per game, also tops the conference in rebounds (8.1 per contest).
He has successfully converted 55-of-64 free throw attempts (887%), ranked second in the conference.
Last season Davis garnered WWS player of the week honors twice, with a pair of double-double performances over UW-O, scoring 30 points in a double OT 89-87 road-win (1/12/11) then recording a 35 point, 12 rebound game against the Titans at home (2/16/11).
