WWS WIAC womens basketball player of the week

 
UW-Eau Claire Blugold student/athlete Ellen Plendl (Sr.-Chippewa Falls/WI) is the WWS choice for WIAC women's basketball player of the week.

The Blugold center had 9 rebounds, 7 blocked shots, and scored 10 points at Kolf Sports Complex on Wednesday (1/11) facing the UW-Oshkosh Titans, a 52-47 'Golds road-win.

Ellen also had 4 assists and converted 4-of-5 free throw attempts in the game, an overall excellent performance against a deceivingly tough 0-6 Titan team.

Against perennial powerhouse 17th ranked UW-River Falls on Saturday (1/14) Plendl cleaned the glass for 18 rebounds (15 defensive) and recorded 5 blocked shots and 1 steal in a 63-57 Blugold road-win over the 13-2 Falcons at the Karges Center.

The 'Golds center is currently ranked 12th in the conference in scoring (196) averaging 11.5 points per game, and is second in the WIAC in total rebounds (183) grabbing 10.8 boards per contest.

She also leads the conference in blocked shots (62) averaging 3.65 per match.

2009-10 Started 26-of-27 games. Named Honorable Mention All-WIAC.
Team's fourth-leading scorer, averaging 8.7 points per game. Second-leading rebounder (7.2 per game) fifth in the WIAC.

Also making the grade this week;

UW-LaCrosse center Kassie Robinson (Sr.-Inver Grove Heights/MN), 16 points, 11 rebounds in a 47-41 Eagle win over UW-Stevens Point (1/14).

UW-River Falls guard Tiffany Gregorich (Sr.-Altoona/WI), team-high 15 points, team-high 11 rebounds facing UW-EC (1/14), a 57-63 Falcon loss.

UW-Stevens Point post Myranda Tyler (So.-Grafton/WI) 13 points, 8 rebounds off the bench helping defeat visiting UW-Stout 73-46 at Berg Gym (1/11).

UW-Platteville forward Ashley Henry (Jr.-Lancaster/WI) team-high 12 points at Bo Ryan Court in a 66-55 Pioneer loss to UW-Whitewater (1/11). Henry had 1 blocked shot and 1 steal in the contest, also converting 2-of-3 three point attempts.
